<International Circulation>: Are there any recent primary prevention trials about sudden cardiac death?

    Dr Iwai:  Unfortunately there haven’t been any large notable trials since SCD-HeFT (which was published back in 2009) that have really helped us to drive the primary prevention population. Although we are worried about this population， at this point there are no active trials. There was a trial which was terminated due to a lack of enrollment or difficulties with enrollment called DETERMINE and that was a very exciting trial that looked at cardiac magnetic resonance imaging looking at infarct mass as a more powerful predictor potentially of sudden cardiac death and mortality in this population. It was really aimed to also compare it with echocardiogram assessment of ejection fraction to see which performed better.
